Lisa Loudermilk's Artwork - 2024+
nuts and bolts- draft
art process
I paint and sometimes suspend other thin art materials between 3mm layers of clear, slick art epoxy resin. The resin keeps new paint from dragging on and blurring the layers below. It's also possible to remove drying paint to selectively incorporate what's below to compound the image in some places. I use common household tools modified for my purposes more often than paint brushes.
Compositions usually aren't pre-plotted because it more engaging and challenging to constantly anticipate and reassess how colors, values, and forms are interacting with each other as a whole.
structural
I paint on a quality gessoed wood panel mounted to a braced set of wood sides. I coat the finished works with resin or varnish. Works are titled and signed "in verso" (on the back) with an attached artist statement. I can also sign the side if you wish. With most works, I can place hanging brackets for either long or tall display. In the future, if you are familiar with pilot holes and have small drill and screwdriver bits, changing the hanging direction is a quick adjustment.
24X24 inch works are 3/4" deep. Larger works are 1.5 inches deep. Sides are neutral or a major color from the work.
purchase process
Works are shipped ground FedEx or UPS with a specified target date after credit card payment through my Square invoicing. Venmo, Zelle and PayPay are fine, but their processing may take longer.
Full artwork price is refundable if you advise me within two days of receipt to set up a return and the work is returned to the shipper within one week from receiving it. Please preserve the packaging in good order until you are sure you're keeping the work. I'll pay the shipping charges, and submit the refund request within a day of receiving in good condition.
commission paintings
We discuss what you like online and your target size. You can send photos and colors to help shape the project. We agree to an overall look I know I'll still be happy with and able to complete. Then there is a $200 deposit and we make a simple contract with a target date.
My commissioned projects are at the same rate as self-directed work adjusting proportionately for the size. I send details progress photos and videos periodically.
If you like the finished work, great. Or I'll make adjustments once or twice. If you're not happy or later want something different outside of what I like or am capable of doing, we end the project with no additional payment due.
Most commissions complete in two months or less.
shipping
No one likes to pay shipping, but much of that is offset for you by not having to pay sales tax unless it's being sent to Texas.
As of summer 2024, to ship a 36X60 inch painting ground including secure packaging and insurance would be $536 to Chicago and under $567 to further points like Miami and Seattle. A 24X24 inch painting ships for between $73 and $86.
Costs can vary because of things like peak times, mountains, and whether it's delivered to an authorized shipping center, a business, or a residence. I'm happy to get a more detailed estimate knowing your specifics.
Shippers like FedEx and UPS typically require direct signature for values $500+, but usually have some method for rescheduling.
