From scientists sending recordings of Earth sounds out into space in infinitesimal hope of finding cosmic companionship, to faith, to luck rituals, we brim with the desire for a good outcome.

16X20" paper, 24X30" canvas, 38X51" canvas | Bucket List44 unique places in the natural and man-made world meticulously cut and stitched together digitally. The entire scene repeats at the center waterfall. I'm lucky that 1/3 of the photos are mine, but Bucket List would have never been made if I didn't also reach out to other sources. Bucket List was 150+ hours of research and a slow snip-snip process even though it was composed virtually.

16X20" paper, 24X30" canvas and 38X51" canvas | Austin WSL's version of "ButteflightOne monarch's journey of grace a determination across the Texas Hill Country. A combination of tradition and innovation, this work has bits of Julian Onderdonk's paintings in the public domain assembled into the panoramic backdrop for the monarch. I took video of monarchs flying, removed them from the backgrounds, and assembled them into the path of one creature digitally. Special 8x10" prints are $50 and 16X20"s are $100 with almost all of that benefitting the Symphony. | AffinityThe background forest was lichens growing on a Union soldier in the Texas State Cemetery.
16X20" paper, 24X30" canvas and 38X51" canvas | We the PeopleThe more things change, the more they stay the same. The chaos of flip-flopping parties is what keeps the US generally tracking forward over time. But the day-to-day hysteria it causes!
Northern European and Italian Renaissance art was a major college passion. Strange, then, it is to sample this overwhelming imagery for just one collage. Life is rich.

most fit like this in standard frame | temp | La VieWe could turn back the hands of time, but think of all the memories we'd lose. A life well-lived is remembering and always still doing.
16X20" paper, 24X30" canvas | InstitutionsSome things crumble. Some things prevail. We all have our opinions of what those things should be. Upon love we can agree.
16X20" and 22X28" paper, 24X30" and 38X51" canvas | Amore and MoreThe Basilica Cistern in Istanbul was a dumping ground for centuries. Now it's been rehabbed into a deeply spiritual space-- the perfect backdrop for a tribute to love.

St. Charles TableauAn homage to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast in general, though I found the white peacock in Austin and the lit victrola under an open sky in Avanos, Turkey.
16X20" paper, 24X30" canvas | On a Wing and a PrayerI spent months wondering how to use my shot of this blue morpho. The power of this image is the color and tonal range. So I just used more of that. Sometimes, simplicity best.
16X20" paper and 24X30" canvas | Turn Back the Hands of TimeA fantasy for us all. But consider all the wonderful experiences you would lose, too.
16X20"paper | GetawayThe cascading Turkish lanterns are beautiful and romantic, as are several other images tucked within. This one has a painterly quality.

Locally SourcedLet’s just say Austin iconography isn’t in short supply. My two cents is a little more arcane. These are a few maverick freetail bats flying a few blocks upstream near Rock Island-- not the 20-30 miles downstream with millions of others-- to eat.
16X20" paper with larger top and bottom margins. | Dé Jà (Which Do You Choose?)One of my first collages. On one level, it's a romantic collage of elements that don't have to relate. But consider the compelling plot twist for the reincarnation-minded: What if you were presented with just a few flash images of the future and had to choose your the next course life from them? Don't sweat it. Life is just a blip in time after all.
16X20" paper | The next few collages are edgier. | Role ReversalAn open heart is the best path to empathy, but this reversal of fortune is funnier.
16X20" paper, 24X30" canvas | The Many Perils of EnglebertBecause we've all been there...
My husband spied the primary figurines in an antique shop in Bell Buckle, TN. I had a few doll faces in a drawer, and the rest was misery. ;)
16X20" paper | Ah-Hah!My Utopian fantasy about erasing all the cultural and personal baggage assigned to Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” by removing the anguished person. But what is to be said about the remaining landscape unto itself?
I was appalled when I first saw museum shops co-opting The Scream for their gift shops ala life-size punching bags. But here I go now....
16X20" paper, 24X30" canvas | The Clown Made Me Do ItSeedy to sublime images and a vintage matchbook collected from my travels. Most signage was from the worn parts of town in the midwest, though the beautiful bottles are from Sobu in New Orleans. As night progresses, things get a little fuzzy.
